Apart from capillary sequencing, high-throughput NGS is a culture-independent method, which allows analyzing the whole genetic material present in a given sample. Metagenomic sequencing is fast and cost-effective method to reveal strains in microbial community sampled directly from their habitats that cannot be detected by other methods. 16S rRNA sequencing is the universal method investigating phylogenetics and systematics of species.
